Cable Mittens

This is my newest project. They are going to be mittens that are cabled all the way up the front with stockinette stitch on the palm.
I cannot wait to finish them! It has been so cold out lately and it's not even November yet!! I am knitting them for myself to wear and keep my hands warm. I am knitting on them diligently.

Dog Sweater

This is a dog sweater that I am knitting for my beagle Norton. I am using worsted weight Galway Yarn. It is made in Peru for Plymouth Yarn Company. I really enjoy knitting with this yarn. It is smooth and warm. It is not itchy at all. The dogs seem to enjoy it as well. I am hooked on it because it is pretty cheap too. I can purchase this yarn for under $7 per 100 grams.
I am a little weary about knitting with other yarns because I have done so well with this one. But the only way to learn is to try. I am relatively new to knitting, I have been knitting for less than a year, so I still have a lot to learn. This is the only yarn that I have knit with, besides some cheap brands to practice with. I have a great knitting group that I attend weekly. There are a few very experienced knitters in the group so I know that if I do have any problems they will be there to help.
I am very excited to finish this project so that I can knit something for myself for once!
Hopefully I will have this done within the next week. :)

Beautful Day

Beautiful day out today. I thought that it was going to rain all day long by the way the sky looked this morning when I woke up. But it has turned into a very nice day out. The sun is shining and it is warming up very nicely outside. It's becoming a little breezy out, but I can deal with that as long as it is a warm wind, which it seems to be. Its a nice change from the fall like weather that we've been getting for the past weeks. I think we really got only a month of summer this year temperature wise.
This sun will be nice for my tomato plants. They need all the sun they can get right now. They don't have much time left outside. I'll have to harvest them green and let them ripen indoors. Tomatoes don't do so well out here. The climate is just too cold, and the growing season too short to expect much from a sun loving plant. Oh-well. I guess it's better than growing nothing at all.
Hopefully the week will stay nice and calm so that lobstering is fun tomorrow. It's not very nice to go when it's raining and windy or foggy. But I guess that's what you get for signing up to go on the boat. You don't make money if you don't go out and haul traps.
Well it's a nice day off anyway. So I think I will enjoy it and take the dogs for a walk. I can't expect much more warm weather like this. Fall is here, so winter is just around the corner.
